Sigali Hamberger

In a departure from her take on the classics that earned her this year’s 1930s Idol title, Sigali explores a more contemporary and complex set of standards, art songs, and Broadway gems from Arlen and Azanavour to Bernstein and Bucchino. She lends her shimmering soprano to the contemporary works of Sondheim, Guettel, and Yeston along the way. Musical Direction & Arrangements by Ido Alexander; Directed by
Eric Michael Gillett.
Rodgers and Hart were on to something when they wrote about the noble pursuit of singing for one’s supper. Sigali wants nothing more than to do just that. She is thrilled to be this year’s reigning 1930s Idol champion, particularly because of her affinity for the popular music of the early 20th century. Her theater work includes roles inThe King & I, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, SheLoves Me, The Mikado, Country Club, and A Christmas Carol. More recently she finds at home on the cabaret stage singing the standards--both classic and contemporary--from the American songbook to Broadway.Sigali has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, where she did not study theater, and an MBA from Rice, where she did not study singing. She happily credits these experiences for the knowledge that there is no effective intervention for singers—nor should there be! Sigali studied acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse and Circle in the SquareTheater Schools, and has 10 years of classical voice training.
