Perry Payne is Getting Away From it All

With Michael Rice and his Travelling Three
Directed by Evan Pappas

Perry Payne is "Getting Away From It All" in a musical engagement this July at the
Metropolitan Room in Manhattan's historic Flatiron district. Accompanied by Michael
Rice & His Travelling Three-comprising Ray Kilday on bass, Danny Mallon and Gary
Seligson on percussion and Amy Hamilton-Soto on violin-the acclaimed singer/actress/
comedienne has hand-picked an eclectic program that includes the music of Adair,
Wallowich, Rodgers & Hammerstein, A.C. Jobim, Steve Randoy, Ethel Waters and
Mancini, alongside fellow Southerners Trisha Yearwood and Michael Rice & Mike
Craver... and pop superstars Sting and Pink.

The evening aims to offer a celebratory diversion from a crazy, tenaciously
challenging year, chaperoned by Payne, a well-traveled New York-based entertainer.
Her off-Broadway performance in Keith Thompson's "Kooky Tunes" garnered kudos from
InTheatre Magazine and Show Business Weekly, which named her one of the top 10
funniest performers in New York cabaret. Her holiday novelty single "Santa Claus
Won't Get Lit Up (At the Trailer Park Gate This Year)," which she wrote with Rice,
is an annual Christmastime favorite at radio stations across the nation, and has
been featured in Billboard Magazine as a Top Ten Holiday Song for much of this
decade.

During the day, Payne serves as Senior Vice President for Prudential Douglas Elliman.

She opens at the Metropolitan Room July 1, and continues July 2 and July 10 at 7:30
p.m., and July 11 at 9:45.

ridiculous, and a big dose of heart, a happy medium that blends comedy and pathos
with the early Streisand-like giddiness that sets her apart." - Backstage
"Payne's voice is a treasure." - Billboard Magazine
"One of the 10 funniest people in cabaret." - InTheater (referring to Keith
Thompson's Kooky Tunes, with Jay Rogers)
