Richard Malavet

Malavet

The Billy Eckstine Project, Songs in the Key of "B" , reveals the untold story of one of America's iconic heartthrobs.

Accomplished New York cabaret jazz vocalist, Richard Malavet has been crooning audiences with his silky baritone voice, performing at such notable cabaret venues as Don't Tell Mama's, Eighty Eights, Judy's Chelsea, Danny's Skylight Room Cabaret, Mama Rose's and The Encore.

His 2001 cabaret show, "The Right to Love", featured an eclectic and exciting collection of songs. The show was held over twice and was a hit with audiences and critics alike. "There is a real beauty to his voice and an emotional core to his interpretations", said John Hoglund of Backstage.

Richard's last jazz/cabaret show, "Songs They Sang . . . My Way," was a musical tribute to premier vocalists Tony Bennett, Nat "King" Cole, Bing Crosby, Billy Eckstine, Frank Sinatra and Joe Williams that offered a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the story of how six legendary singers learned from and influenced each other to create and perform some of the greatest music of our time. It impressed both audiences and critics alike -- becoming one of the most popular performances at Danny‚s Skylight Room that year.

Currently, Richard recorded his self-released CD debut entitled Who Can Say What Love Is?, featuring a dynamic and eclectic suite of songs by legendary songwriters/composers Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Leonard Bernstein, Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern, as well as songs by the inimitable R&B / pop innovator Ray Charles, acclaimed composer/conductor Lalo Schifrin and newcomer Ben Moore.
